Shared Ground - Inside the Envu Research Partnership with Indiana University

RNAi Innovation for Mosquito Control

At Envu, innovation starts with real-world customer challenges in the spaces that society and nature share — and many of the most forward-looking solutions are developed alongside external partners who share a common purpose in solving the same scientific challenges.

Shared Ground is a new conversation-driven video series hosted by Envu CEO Gilles Galliou, featuring authentic, face-to-face discussions with innovation partners, ranging from universities and research institutes to technology providers and industry startups. These stories reveal how Envu and its collaborators find alignment in purpose and vision — and how that alignment leads to stronger solutions for customers.

In this episode, Gilles meets with Dr. Molly Duman-Scheel, Navari Family Professor at the Indiana University School of Medicine, whose laboratory is pioneering species-specific RNA interference (RNAi) tools to target mosquito larvae before they become disease-transmitting adults. Her team’s research — which includes foundational work in mosquito developmental genetics and the first targeted genetic knockdown studies of mosquito neural development — is helping shape a new generation of biorational, nature-positive vector control technologies.

Together, they explore how Dr. Duman-Scheel’s advances in yeast-based RNAi delivery intersect with Envu expertise in formulation, regulatory pathway development and commercial-scale development — demonstrating how early-stage research partnerships can accelerate meaningful impact.

About the Shared Ground Series

Shared Ground highlights how Envu builds strong, purposeful partnerships that drive environmental science innovation. Hosted by CEO Gilles Galliou, each conversation explores the “why” behind that collaboration — the shared goals, complementary expertise and aligned values that enable Envu and its partners to move faster, think bigger and bring more breakthrough solutions from the lab toward real-world impact.
