Envu Climate Targets Approved by the Science Based Targets initiative
Envu has a singular focus: to advance healthy environments for everyone everywhere. That purpose shapes the company’s strategy, including through our commitment to decarbonization. Today, we’re proud to share that the near-term science-based emissions reduction targets set by Envu have been officially validated by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi), marking a significant step forward in our journey toward a more sustainable future.
The Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) is a corporate climate action organization that enables companies and financial institutions worldwide to play their part in combating the climate crisis. It has partnered with organizations like the Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP), the United Nations Global Compact and the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) to develop standards, tools and guidance which allow companies to set greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions reductions targets in line with what is needed to keep global heating below catastrophic levels.
Tackling Emissions at Every Level
Per our targets, Envu is committed to reducing absolute Scope 1 and 2* emissions 42% by 2030 from a 2023 base year. Envu also commits that 33% of its emissions by suppliers covering purchased goods and services will have science-based targets by 2030. Envu has also committed to reduce absolute all other Scope 3 GHG emissions from purchased goods and services 25% within the same timeframe.
Validation of these targets is just one step in the broader decarbonization journey. As part of our emission-reduction strategy, Envu has already begun acting on key levers such as renewable energy adoption and fleet electrification to reduce Scope 1 and 2 emissions. However, the greatest challenge lies in Scope 3 — which accounts for more than 98% of our total greenhouse gas emissions.
As Marine Sanouiller, chief sustainability officer at Envu, explains, “Reducing emissions at the scale we’re aiming for can’t be done alone. Deep collaboration and shared accountability with our supply chain partners is critical — not only to meet these targets, but to build a more resilient and sustainable future. Work is already underway with our suppliers and manufacturing partners to build a clear, collaborative pathway to emissions reduction.”

*Scope 1 and 2 emissions refer to direct (Scope 1) and indirect (Scope 2) emissions from purchased energy, whereas Scope 3 includes all other indirect emissions across the value chain.
