Gilles Galliou is Chief Executive Officer of Envu, the first global innovation company of its size dedicated entirely to environmental science. With more than three decades of international experience, he has built his career at the intersection of agronomy, business leadership and cultural transformation.
Born in Normandy, France, Gilles trained as an agronomic engineer with a specialization in tropical agriculture. His career began in Pakistan, where he tested new crop protection products in cotton and rice—an experience that sparked his passion for working across cultures and leading from the frontlines of business. He went on to hold leadership roles in Germany, Morocco, France and the United States, spanning product development, marketing, commercial operations and business leadership across multiple regions.
Gilles spent nearly 20 years with Bayer, where he led businesses across Europe and the Americas before becoming CEO of Bayer Environmental Science. In that role, he guided the successful divestment of the division and its transformation into Envu in 2022. Under his leadership, Envu has grown into a focused, agile company of more than 1,000 employees serving customers across eight dedicated markets: Professional Pest Management, Forestry, Ornamentals, Golf, Industrial Vegetation Management, Lawn & Landscape, Mosquito Management and Range & Pasture.
As CEO, Gilles is recognized for his belief that strategy succeeds only through culture. He champions authenticity, proximity and empowerment—approaching leadership as a “chief reminding officer” who connects people to purpose. He often frames the Envu purpose—advancing healthy environments for everyone, everywhere—as a commitment to providing peace of mind in the places where people live, work and play.
Gilles draws inspiration from global mentors, former colleagues, and his love of rugby, which shaped his conviction that strong teams win together. Today, he continues to focus on accelerating innovation, strengthening the company’s sustainability impact and building a culture of ownership and pride as Envu helps shape the future of environmental science.
