Bernard Jacqmin is Chief Innovation & Regulatory Officer at Envu. An agronomic engineer by training with more than 25 years of experience in crop protection and environmental science, Bernard leads the company’s global strategy across research and development, regulatory affairs and technology partnerships.
Raised in Belgium as the grandson of a farmer, Bernard developed an early appreciation for agriculture and a strong desire to help farmers and communities address real-world challenges through science and technology. He began his career in agronomic research and professional horticulture before joining the crop protection industry, where he built a global career connecting scientific and technology-based innovation with customer needs.
Bernard spent more than two decades at Bayer Crop Science and its predecessor organizations, holding senior leadership roles across research and development, agronomic development and global product development. During this time, he led agronomic development in Latin America and at a global level in crop protection. He also led the portfolio strategy while holding a commercial P&L for Seed Treatment before joining the Environmental Science division where he oversaw global development for the division and guided teams through major organizational transformations. Over the course of his career, he has lived and worked across Europe, Latin America and North America, bringing a deep appreciation for cultural diversity and local market realities.
When Bayer’s Environmental Science business was carved out to form Envu in 2022, Bernard played a key role in shaping the company’s standalone R&D organization while strengthening its innovation agenda. In his current role, he ensures the license to operate for Envu and the strong technical support for its commercial portfolio, and he leads the Envu 360° Innovation approach, which centers on solving customer problems through a broad range of solutions. This includes advancing internal R&D capabilities, building partnerships, and integrating new technologies across chemistry, biorationals, digital solutions and formulation science.
Bernard is particularly passionate about fostering collaborative, empowered teams and positioning Envu as a partner of choice for innovation in environmental science. He emphasizes disciplined decision-making, strong regulatory foundations, and responsible innovation that balances performance, sustainability, and societal value.
